Work with us

The Fringe Society provides support, advice and encouragement to all the amazing artists, producers and venues who create the Fringe each year; we assist audiences who attend the festival; and we celebrate the Fringe and what it stands for all over the world.

There’s a wide range of career opportunities at the Society, both permanent and seasonal. We’re always looking for talented, motivated people who are passionate about what they do.

The Fringe Society is proud to be a Disability Confident Employer and we aim to successfully employ and retain disabled people and people with health conditions. As part of this commitment we offer a guaranteed interview to all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for an advertised role.

We’re also an accredited Living Wage Employer, committed to paying all our staff – both seasonal and permanent – the Living Wage or higher.

We recognise that people’s individual circumstances impact their day-to-day availability, so we’re happy to discuss flexible working where suitable. We’ve taken questions on spent criminal convictions out of our application forms to remove barriers to employment at the Society.

We’re committed to providing a working environment in which employees are able to realise their full potential and to contribute to our business success irrespective of their gender, gender reassignment, race, disability, sexual orientation, marital status, part-time status, age, religion, beliefs, politics or trade union membership. This is a key employment value we ask all our employees to support.

Working and volunteering at the Fringe

At the moment, we are not able to offer work experience and internships within the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society. As we are essentially a service organisation, we exist to service companies and the public, and it's our obligation to fulfil that seriously. Therefore, we believe that all our staff should be paid appropriately to deliver those services on behalf of Fringe participants and the public.

Fringe venues and organisations are run independently of the Fringe Society and as such operate their own recruitment and employment practices. However, we work with Equity, BECTU and Volunteer Edinburgh to promote fair working practices at the Fringe, and have established best practice codes for Fringe venues and companies. We also offer support and guidance to Fringe participants regarding employment, including mediation between participants and venues where necessary.
