Fringe app
The official EdFringe app has listings for every show at the Fringe, and allows you to browse and book tickets on the go (as well as a few other handy features).
Please note: the EdFringe app is updated in the run-up to each year's festival; we recommend uninstalling it after August as it will need to be downloaded again the following year in any case.
App features
Devised and developed after carefully reviewing feedback from audiences, artists, participants and venues, the official EdFringe app offers exciting features:
- purchase Fringe tickets directly from your phone
- browse Fringe show listings
- search for shows by title, performer, company, date, time or programme genre
- locate the nearest shows starting soon with Nearby Now
- access e-ticket QR codes for all your purchased shows via the My Tickets area and your daily show schedule
- the offline mode enables you to browse saved performances and access your tickets offline in the My planner secion
- enable notifications for when your next show starts
- try the ‘Shake to Search’ functionality, which will provide a random show suggestion simply by shaking your phone.
The app uses the information stored in your edfringe.com account – make sure your details are up to date so you can make the most of the Edinburgh Fringe!
Getting started with the EdFringe app
To make the most of the app, ensure you log in with the same account you created when purchasing tickets via edfringe.com. If you don’t yet have an account, you can create one with the link you’ll find when opening the app, and use it to purchase tickets on both the app and edfringe.com.
We recommend enabling location services after downloading the app, as prompted during initial startup. This will enable the app to suggest shows that are near to you and help you easily find venues.
Key functions
Plan ahead with ‘My planner’
When browsing shows, you can add them to your planner, so you can always easily see dates and times of the shows you're intersted in seeing and how they slot into your daily schedule. Shows you've booked will also be added to your planner so you can be reminded of where you need to go and at what time, and easily access your e-ticket QR codes.
Browse shows or shake to search
Browsing shows is pretty straightforward – you can filter by time, venue, genre and more to find all the shows that suit your tastes.
Too much to choose from? Simply shake your phone and the app will suggest a random show that you can take a gamble on. Go on, try something new!
Your favourite shows
If you like the look of a show but aren't sure yet whether you can make it, tap the little heart icon on any show listing to add it to your list of favourites.
Find venues with your phone's map
If you’re unfamiliar with Edinburgh, the app's map integration is particularly useful – just tap the 'venue' tab of any show listing, then scroll down to the map and tap it to open your phone's native mapping tool (eg Apple Maps or Google Maps) which will guide you there.
Your tickets on the go
You can book multiple tickets at once or, if you've already booked tickets via edfringe.com, they will automatically appear in the app once you’ve logged in. To gain entry to the show simply show your e-ticket QR code to the venue staff.
